Summer is coming to an end, and we have already been enjoying some cooler weather in the Tulsa area. The start of fall also signals the start of our section’s 2017-2018 luncheon program. Our first planned luncheon will be on September 27: Richard Spears of Spears & Associates, Inc. will be giving a presentation on the current state of the oilfield equipment and service markets. Be on the lookout for luncheon details in your inbox.
SPE Mid-Continent’s annual Fall Roundup Golf Tournament will be held September 8 at Forest Ridge Golf Club in Broken Arrow. Thanks to Nathan Nitchals at MS Energy Services for organizing this year’s golf tournament. Our section’s 22nd annual sporting clays tournament is scheduled for October 6 at Longshot Ranch in Skiatook. Mark Carr has been organizing this event since its inception. This will be his last year chairing the sporting clays tournament; I want to thank Mark on behalf of SPEMC for all the work he has put into the sporting clays tournament all these years.
Our section is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The Mid-Continent Society of SPE-AIME was established December 28, 1917. We will be holding a 100th anniversary celebration at the Gilcrease Museum on October 26. Buck Walsh has been chairing the committee that is organizing the 100th anniversary commemoration.
We’ve got a few vacancies on our board—most importantly the Vice Chair, Programs position is vacant. If any of you would be interested in filling the Program Chair position, please contact me.
