Wow, here it is, September. The school buses are running and thankfully the temperature has dropped a few degrees. That means it’s time to begin a new year of SPE meetings (think going back to school – but only for an hour – and the Summit Club always provides us with excellent food). It’s also time to go on a few “outings” – the Golf Tournament and Sporting Clays Tournament are just around the corner. Both are highlights for our membership activities so please make plans now to form your teams and get registered.
I trust you’ve had a good summer and are grateful for good air conditioners and a stable energy supply that enabled us all to catch a few breaks from the heat and travel safely to see new places, friends, and relatives. Don’t forget that what you do every day has a tremendous positive impact on our quality of life.
It continues to be a difficult season for the oil and gas industry and we don't know what the remainder of the year holds for us, but we do know that the need for natural resources and continued learning via professional organizations like SPE are valuable, helping us to move forward and enjoy the ride. After all, our section has been around for 99 years!
As you may know, we do have a few vacant positions for the section and are always looking for more help to aid in learning and technology transfer. If you are available, please let one of the board members know.
I look forward to seeing you all very soon. Our first luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday September 13th and the golf tournament is set for Monday September 19th.
Thank you and regards,
