I hope that everyone enjoyed their summer, albeit nearly impossible to tolerate outdoor activities in this record breaking heat wave! School has started for our kids all over the Tulsa area. Hopefully the weather will bless us with some 70’s and 80’s as we head toward the fall season; better yet our SPE Technical Luncheons will begin September 20.
With each season comes changes and the same is true for our local SPE section. We have, as every year, elected new members to the executive committee and they have graciously accepted the role. Rita Behm is now our Vice Chairman/Programs, Nathan Buchanan has re-joined us as Secretary and Bryson Wolfe has agreed to serve as our Treasurer. If you see these individuals please take a moment to thank them for all they do to make our organization one of the best in the industry.
I am excited to be leading the Mid-Continent section of SPE this year and hope to work with my fellow committee members to make our section the best that it can be. We are already off to a great start this year thanks to Rita Behm who has lined up some great speakers for our technical luncheons. For our first luncheon of 2012, Greg Flournoy will be speaking about “Borehole Image Interpretation Techniques and Examples: Mississippian of Northeast Oklahoma.” The SPE luncheons will convene monthly at The Summit Club, located at 6th and Boulder.
As a reminder, our annual SPE Fall Roundup Golf Tournament will be taking place on September 17th at The Oaks Country Club, and registration is now open for our annual Sporting Clays Classic. Information about these events can be found on our website at www.spemc.org.
