The 2015-2016 Mid-Continent SPE Year is off to a great start! I would like to begin by thanking Susana Tandazo for her service to SPE over the last year and a half as Co-Chair and Chair. The Mid-Continent section is sad to see her early departure, but we wish her the best of luck on the new adventures that await her in Houston.
We kicked off the 2015-2016 SPE Luncheons with a presentation from David Moore with Gyrodata on “Micro-Guide Logging.” The topic pertained heavily to production operations throughout North America and offered a unique, new technology that is just being introduced to the market. Again, thank you to David Moore and Gyrodata for the very informative presentation. Our next meeting will be October 13th at The Oaks Country Club. The speaker will be Daniel Tormey with Environ Corporation. Daniel is a 2015-2016 SPE Distinguished Lecturer whose topic will be “First-Ever Comprehensive Environmental Characterization of Hydraulic Fracturing for Shale Oil and Gas Production.” Please sign up as soon as possible to ensure your seat at the luncheon.
Our 2015 Fall Round-Up Golf Tournament was held on September 21st. We had an excellent turnout as all 36 teams were filled. We greatly appreciate all of the support from our sponsors and participants who helped make this an absolute success. Even in these tough times, we were able to raise over $5,000 for our scholarship foundation! I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our Golf Chair, Nathan Nitchals, for his continued dedication and hard work to the Mid-Continent SPE Section. He has served as our Golf Chair for the past 5 years and our Golf Tournament has been a tremendous success during his tenure. Also, please don’t forget to sign your team up for our 20th Annual Sporting Clays Tournament that will be held on October 23rd at the Longshot Ranch in Skiatook. Please contact Mark Carr (email@example.com) for more information on registration and sponsorship.
I am proud to announce that the Mid-Continent Section of SPE has selected 40 scholarship recipients for the 2015-2016 academic year. Each recipient received a $3,000 scholarship that will be distributed equally between the Fall and Spring semesters. The recipients represent 13 Universities across the nation, and we wish them all the best during their studies. Thank you to our Scholarship Chair, Steve Tipton, and his team for their judicious work in candidate selection.
The last YPE Happy Hour was held on September 17th at McNellie’s Downtown. The turnout was minimal, but it was a good time shared by those who attended. Our next YPE Happy Hour will be October 21st at Corporate Night for Tulsa’s 2015 Oktoberfest. Tickets will be limited, so please contact Charley Mathis (firstname.lastname@example.org) to sign up (two ticket max per person).
Lastly, I know all of you are deeply and emotionally involved in rooting your Alma Mater’s football team to victory, so I’ll end with a Go Pokes, Go Sooners, Go Hurricanes, and GEAUX TIGERS!
