We kicked off this fall with both our first SPE luncheon on September 27th and our Fall Roundup Tournament. Thanks to everyone who participated and our sponsors. We had a great turnout.
Bryson Wolfe has set up our next luncheon at the Summit on October 16th. Our guest lecturer, Brad Berg with Anadarko, is a member of the SPE distinguished lecturer tour and will be addressing “Characterizing Shale Plays-The Importance of Recognizing What You Don’t Know.”
The 18th Annual Sporting Clays Classic will be held on October 18th. We have 20 teams signed up so far and spots are filling up fast. We will also be holding a raffle with tickets ranging $15-$20. For more information and where to sign up you can visit our website at www.spemc.org.
As a reminder, membership dues will be arriving in the mail and online. SPE has over 110,000 members in 141 countries. Although membership is important to the section, there are also many benefits of being a member. SPE members who designate projects, facilities and construction as a primary or secondary discipline will receive The Oil and Gas Facilities Magazine at no cost. SPE members also receive a subscription to the Journal of Petroleum Technology; receive discount registration to events, and special pricing on books. SPE members also automatically qualify for membership to AAPG and SEG. I would also like to encourage members under thirty-five to get involved with our YP section in Tulsa. YP is a great opportunity for young professionals to get involved with the technical community. Contact Jeanna Easley Jeanna.Easley@halliburton.com to sign up.
