Well September was a great month to be involved in the SPE we enjoyed beautiful weather for the Annual SPE Fall Roundup hosted by The Oaks Country Club, minus some dense fog for the morning flight. I hope everyone was able to enjoy the event this year. I would like to give a special thanks to the Golf Tournament Committee, chaired by Nathan Nitchals. I would also like to thank all of our sponsors and, of course, all of you who played in the event. Greg Flournoy kicked us off with a very well attended luncheon with his examples and ideas for the Mississippian Formation that most of us our involved with. October looks to maintain momentum with the Annual Sporting Clay Tournament (entry forms have been emailed). Registration information can be found on our website www.spemc.org. This is a great event that fills up fast so get your registrations in early!

On another note, I'd like to remind everyone how important membership is to our section. So I will urge each of you to get online and renew your membership(s). I would also encourage all of us to try to engage the young professionals entering our business. The YPs have grown rapidly in Tulsa over the past few years, and with the aging demographics our industry faces, that trend is not likely to change anytime soon. The younger generation will all have more of an impact on our jobs and lives. The quicker we can get them involved in the technical community the better off all parties will be.

Thanks to everyone who attended our first luncheon, the lineup of quality speakers and topics will continue thanks to Rita Behm who has a great lineup for speakers. For our next luncheon of 2012 Rick Reischman will be speaking about “Logging Difficult Wells with a new Conveyance Solution” on Wednesday October 10. The SPE luncheons will convene monthly at The Summit Club, located at 6th and Boulder.
