This is my final article for the Newsletter as your 2010-2011 Chairman. I will have to admit when I first contemplated getting involved as an officer of our Section, I had my reservations. But I can sincerely tell you that it has been very rewarding. With this in mind, I would like to encourage each member to consider getting more involved in our Section. It will certainly be rewarding for you and a huge benefit for our Section.

The ballots will be coming out soon for the 2011-2012 officers and directors election. Please take a few moments to cast your vote and send in your ballot. It would be greatly appreciated.

We have only two luncheons remaining until next fall. On May 12th, Jennifer Keefe with Patton Boggs law firm will be speaking on “Ethical lessons from 2010 Petroleum Engineering Scandals”. Then on Wednesday, May 25th, our very own Mohan Kelkar will be speaking on “Interference between infill and offset wells in the Woodford Shale”. You won’t want to miss either of these luncheons this month.

Then a final reminder about our Section’s Membership Appreciation Event set for Saturday, May 14th. This is offered to our members and their immediate family at no cost. If you haven’t already done so, please RSVP your reservation today to Mark Bozich at 918-899-0706 or to let him know that you will be able to attend and the number of people in your family coming with you. Please RSVP by May 9th.

Finally, I would like to thank my fellow officers, directors and chairpersons that have served diligently with me this year. Their desire to make this year a very successful one can be seen in their dedication to all the planned luncheons, activities and events. A special “thank you” goes out to Molly Boyd who has worn two hats for half the year serving as Secretary and Treasurer after we lost our Treasurer to a job transfer in January. Also, to all the membership, I thank you for your confidence in me to allow me to serve as your Chairman this year.
