As we begin to close out another year of SPE meetings, I must say that it has
been my sincere pleasure serving as Section Chairman this year. I thank my fellow
officers, directors and chair persons for their hard work and dedication that
has made this year such a success.
Erik Block, the incoming Chairman for 2009-2010,
deserves special recognition for arranging superb talks and bringing our luncheon
attendance up to record levels.
Special thanks to Earl Logan who filled
a vital role as Secretary. Earl assumed this job when David Yaw accepted another
job out of town. Great job Earl!
Also, I must recognize Lance Sullins,
who has spent countless hours maintaining our financial records, paying the bills
and making the deposits.
I have to mention Dr. Mohan Kelkar who has served
this Section tirelessly for many years. I'm very grateful to him for nominating
me for the 2009 SPE Regional Service Award. This was a very special honor to me.
Thank you Dr. Kelkar.
I'm encouraged by the success this of our Young Professional
group under the Chairmanship of Julie Dewitt. This extension of our Section has
grown in membership and continues to offer the Section a new contingent of highly
motivated and technically skilled members.
I could go on and on recognizing
the people who have helped me along the way. It would take many pages and time
that I don't have, to name the past Chairpersons, Directors, Committee Chairs,
and IOR volunteers that have so graciously come to my aid when I needed it.
committee chair that I can't forget to mention is Travis Reed, Chair of the Membership
Committee. Travis volunteered for this position mid-year and has coordinated the
"One Member at a Time" membership contest. From February through the
end of March we have gained 16 new members. Congratulations Travis.
I thank every member of this section for your time and support of the section
during this past year. It's been a pleasure serving you. Keep up the good work.
of this section for your time and interest in making the Mid-Continent Section
the number one section in the world. Keep up the good work.
