On May 2nd, our Mid-Continent SPE Section will host a 90th Anniversary
Party at the Gilcrease Museum. A museum tour, keynote speeches, and a screening
of a short video documentary about our sections history are just some
of the highlights. The board and I would like to see you there and commemorate
the 90th year of SPE section #1 with us. More information will soon follow
with a chance to RSVP.
SPE student night is on April 10th. The University of Tulsa Student
SPE Section along with our Mid-Continent SPE Section will hold a joint meeting.
Dave Rader, former TU football coach, will be speaking that night.
I would like to encourage all of you to attend and meet both undergraduate
and graduate students that will soon be our colleagues and employees.
Five of our members are Legion of Honor recipients this year: Andris
Cepurniek, James McUsic, Donald Myers, Edward Reif
and James Lummus. This award recognizes 50 years of membership in SPE.
Congratulations! As my time as Chairmen nears an end, I have been reflecting
on the role of SPE and particularly the role of our local section in our profession.
More than anything else, fellowship and education are at the top of the list
in my opinion. Our local section strives to provide opportunities for both.
Of course, we can only improve if we get feedback from you. Dont hesitate
to do so and get involved.
