By the time you read this Santa Claus will have already come and we will have
celebrated the arrival of a new year. I hope you all had a great Holiday Season
and are now ready to embark on a new year filled with a bit of uncertainty. Uncertainty
with respect to oil & gas prices, the stock market, the auto industry, and
the economy in general. My own opinion is that our county will persevere and be
resilient as always and these problems will be resolved and our economy will be
on it's way to financial health.
The next five months for the Mid-Continent
Section will be exciting. We have three distinguished lecturers scheduled for
luncheons. We will sponsor Student Night at the University of Tulsa again in the
spring and continuing education short courses are in the making.
Chairman, Travis Reed, has been working on a new membership recruiting contest
that will kick off in January pending approval by the Board of Directors. One
of our goals for 2009 is to increase the number of active members in this section
striving for recognition by SPE internationally.
In closing, I encourage
you all to check out our section web site to learn more about the activities that
are going on for 2009. It is www.spemc.org.
you to everyone who volunteers their time to make the Mid-Continent Section the
number one section in the world. Every active member in this section makes a positive
contribution just by paying your dues and attending the luncheons. Keep up the
