Well it’s February and the slow dreary drag of winter is starting to wear us down. Hopefully the ground hog Punxsutawney Phil will fail to see his shadow and we can rush spring here. I just hope we get to enjoy a couple months of spring weather before the dreadful heat of summer arrives. Get out enjoy some gorgeous days with your family and friends in the near future.

Thank you to all of our current members, you’re punctuality on renewing your membership(s) it’s greatly appreciated, if you’re not in this category please remedy the situation. If there is interest in becoming more involved with the SPEMC Chapter please contact me about available positions. I’m still challenging the senior members to encourage and engage the young professionals entering our business. The YPs have grown rapidly in Tulsa over the past few years and with the aging demographics our industry faces, that trend is not likely to change anytime soon. The younger generation will all have more of an impact on our jobs and lives. The quicker we can get them involved in the technical community the better off all parties will be.

Thanks to everyone who has attended our luncheon on January 17th. Our next luncheon will be held February 20th and at our normal meeting place The Summit Club. Where our speaker Mr. Mark Pearson of Liberty Resources LLC, a SPE Distinguished Lecturer will bring the topic "Hydraulic Fracturing of Horizontal Wells—Realizing the Paradigm Shift That Has Been 30 Years in Development", please be sure to attend. Rita has finished the scheduling for 2013 and I’m excited about some of the upcoming talks. We have secured a date for the membership appreciation event, the 14th of April at Driller Stadium, more details available at www.spemc.org. Please contact Mark Bozich to make your reservations.

Best,
