The holiday season is upon us! This is a busy time for everyone between work and family so I will make this letter to you all short and sweet.
Firstly, I would like to remind you that our next luncheon topic will cover “Compression – The Undervalued Key to Production” and will take place on December 9th. Larry Harms, of ConocoPhillips, has agreed to stay after his presentation to give a short course on the same topic. For those interested registration information for both the luncheon and short course can be found on our website at www.spemc.org.
We will be starting off 2012 in a great way as we host our second Distinguished Lecturer of the Season on January 12th. Erdal Ozkan, of the Colorado School of Mines, will be presenting “Understanding Flow in Shale and Modeling Fractured Horizontal Well Performance in Shale Reservoirs”. Due to a scheduling conflict we will be holding this event at the Renaissance Hotel in South Tulsa. We anticipate a great crowd and the venue is working to help us accommodate everyone but please register early to ensure your place.
Secondly, I would like to announce that SPE Mid-Continent will be hosting a Membership Appreciation event that will take place on January 28th. The event will be held at the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks and members are invited to bring spouses, children and grandchildren. We are excited to have everyone get together, escape the cold and enjoy dinner and door prizes. This event is covered entirely by your local section and is our way of showing we appreciate your membership and support.
God bless you all throughout this Holiday Season and safe travels for those of you headed to celebrate with loved ones.
2011 – 2012 Chairman
