I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year as we are now in the Holiday Season. The Shooting Clays Tournament was a huge success with over 220 participants. This is an important fundraiser for SPE scholarships; the tournament raised over $6000, which is the equivalent of two scholarships. The Sporting Clays Tournament and Fall-Roundup Golf Tournament collectively funded 6 scholarships. Thank you to all the SPE volunteers who made this possible.

The Mid-Continent Board of Directors is calling on nominations for SPE Regional Service and Technical Awards. The Regional Service Award acknowledges exceptional contributions to the Society of Petroleum Engineers at the section or region levels. The Technical Awards acknowledge achievements in the areas of Drilling and Completions, Reservoir Description and Dynamics, Production and Operations, Facilities and Construction, H.S.E, and Management and Information. Please contact Aaron Horn at ahorn@newfield.com for more information.

Please note that the 2007 SPE Salary Survey was released to members in the November JPT. The following is a synopsis from SPE Communications: "This year all SPE members worldwide (excluding students) were invited to participate.More than 10,000 submitted
their confidential, anonymous information, more than tripling last year's participation of 2,750 members. We are especially pleased that more than half of the participants work outside the United States, a total of 5,412 respondents compared with just 1,186 respondents
in 2006. The 2007 survey contains data from SPE members in 91 countries, compared with 51 countries in 2006.The tremendous increase in representation of SPE members from every region around the globe gives far more confidence in this year's data. We are providing those who participated an advance look at the survey results."
